ABSTRACT

The quality of seafood is one of the significant concerns to food processors, buyers, and generalwellbeing specialists. This investigation attempted to research the universality of microbialquality and antibiotic chloramphenicol residue in export-oriented frozen and fresh seafood toverify and control contamination for public health safety and international trade. A total of 32 frozenand fresh seafood samples were randomly collected for microbiological analysis including crabs,shrimps,andtin-packedtunafishes,collectedfrom10diverseprocessingplantssituatedattheKarachi fish harbor, Pakistan. The examination contains the assurance of total viable aerobic count (TVAC)by the standard plate count method estimated under 5×105 colony forming unit /g, E. coli count was found below 5MPN/g, yeast and moldcount were found under 1000 colony forming unit /g, all analyzed seafood test results wereobserved under the average permissible limit. Explicit fish pathogens such as Salmonella spp.,Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Listeria monocytogene, and Staphylococcus aureus werelikewiseinspectedyetdiscoveredmissinginallthesamplesunderexamination.
