ABSTRACT

Maternally expressed gene 3(MEG3) is a highly conserved long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) with anticancer effects in mammals. It is associated with the occurrence and development of various diseases. Vascular endothelial cells (VECs) are important parts of the blood vessel wall, and the integrity of their structure and function is crucial for maintaining normal vascular function. Studies have shown that MEG3 plays an important role in the regulation of VECs function, including the proliferation, migration, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and inflammatory response of VECs. This paper will review the effect of MEG3 on the function of VECs and its potential molecular mechanism, aiming to provide a conceptual basis for the potential of using MEG3 as a clinical diagnostic, prognostic, and targeted therapeutic approach for vascular-related diseases.
