ABSTRACT

A mechanism by which novel virus particles evolve from existing virus particles is described. The control of nucleic acid base order in the new virus particles is discussed. The natural control of virus particles in a metabolism is shown to be hydrolysis of the capsid by monophosphoric acid. Also shown is that for protection against the common cold an individual has ideally to be vaccinated with attenuated versions of the virus particles produced by his or her own cells. Observations supporting the proposals are presented.
