Studies on the spontaneous plastid mutation in Dahlia variabilis DESF

Islam Mahmud Khan, Gulzar Ahmad Khan and Shoukat Islam

ABSTRACT

Three plants of Dahlia variabilis were observed to have variegated leaves. On studying these spontaneously arising plastid mutations the stomatal cells (mixed stomata) were found to have both green and colorless plastids. Comparative studies of the number of plastids and the stomatal size in the mixed and normal green stomata were also conducted.
