Preliminary observations on efficacy of bio-technical techniques for road fill slope stabilization

Bashir Hussain Shah

ABSTRACT

Preliminary data on the efficacy of biotechnical techniques for critical slope stabilization at two sites ate presented in the paper. Six biotechnical techniques viz; brush layering, brush hedge layering, brush wattles, sodding, saccharum hedges and contour trenches with Ipomea cuttings were tested along with simple planting and control at one site and only three biotechnical techniques were tested along with simple planting and control at the second site. All techniques were quite successful in the latter.
