ABSTRACT
Intro: Out of 7,023,562 hectares land area only 4.56% i.e., 284,900 hectares is under coniferous forests. Private forests cover 233,100 hectares whereas Government owned forests are spread over 51,800 hectares which is only 18.2% of the total forest cover. Scrub forests cover 552,100 ha. making the total vegetation cover (natural) to 11.92%. But the areas reported are quite bare of vegetation and very little percentage is actually covered with vegetation.
