Extraction of Proteins from grasses

F. H. Shah, M. H. Sedi and B. A. Nadeem

ABSTRACT

Ten grasses were evaluated of their nutritive value. Percentage of total and extractable proteins was maximum in the first regrowth harvested at one month interval. It then decreased with an increase in age of the crop. Maceration of the grasses with water after pulping increased the extractability of protein up to 183%. The yield of the extractable protein/per hectare/per year was up to 502 kg.
