DISTRIBUTION OF POLYPORACEAE IN WEST PAKSITAN

Polyporaceae is one of the largest groups of fungi. It plays an extremely destructive role in forest wood. This destructive activity of wood-decay fungi was unknown until late in the nineteenth century when Robert Harting established through an important member of Polyporaceae i.e. Fomes sp., relation between hyphae, wood decay and sporophphore (3,4). Since then Polyporaceae have been considered as the cause of enormous losses in timber.
