Chemical evaluation of oil from Mentha arvensis Part-1 - Exraction and Chemical assay of oil

ABSTRACT

Yield, physico - Chemical constants and chemical composition of oil from the leaves of Mentha arvensis., were determined. The results obtained were compared with those of oil from Mentha piperita L; Mintha piperita var. Vulgaris and Mintha arvensis. It was observed that this oil was of fair standard and could be used for flavouring pharmaceuticals tooth pastes, dental cream, cough drops and alcoholic leqururs like those oils from other Mintha spp. Further work in the other aspects of this problem is in progress.
