Effects of Calotrpis procera on IL-8 production.

Methanolic leaf extracts of Calotrpis procera prevent the IL-8 (pro-inflammatory cytokines) pro-duction in PHA-stimulated T-lymphocytes at 8 hours (a), 12 hours (b) and 24 hours (c). The cells were stimulated with or without PHA (1µg/mL) in the presence or absence of leaf extract (1,2 and 4µg/mL ) for 8, 12, and 24 hours. Conditioned media was collected to quantify IL-8 using ELISA assay. Data represent mean ±SD and are analyzed by one way ANOVA followed by post Tukey’s test (***p<0.001).  CP, Calotrpis procera; PHA, phytohaemagglutinin; IL-8, interleukin 8; pg/mL, pictogram per milliliter; µg/mL, microgram per milliliter; ns, non-significant.
