Recently a surge in viral infections has been observed and highlights the challenges imposed by global warming, deforestation, globalization, and enhanced human-livestock-wildlife interface. This special issue invites original articles, critical reviews and expert commentaries on all aspects of emerging viruses. The scope of the special issue includes, but is not limited to, disease economics, molecular epidemiology and diagnosis, pathobiology, host immune response, vaccines and therapeutics.
